Walter C. Schatz

Walter Schatz has nearly 40 years’ experience as an association executive. His most recent position was
executive director with the Specialty Advertising Association of Greater New York (SAAGNY). At SAAGNY, Mr. Schatz tripled the membership, increased revenue by 400% at its two trade shows while also adding an additional three shows. He also expanded its research efforts, education programming, and publications (print and online).
While at SAAGNY, Mr. Schatz established the SAAGNY Foundation and conducted major fundraising efforts to support research as well as provide relief to the victims of September 11th and Hurricane Katrina. He has also served as executive director for four other associations that were state, national and international in scope. Mr. Schatz has extensive experience in developing education and certification programs; he also has proven expertise in trade show management.
Prior to working in associations, Mr. Schatz focused his efforts in the area of city planning, parks and recreation programming, as well as community organizing.
He earned his BA from the State University of New York at Courtland and his MA from Columbia College.
